Anya Taylor-Joy Enters Middle-earth in The Hunt for Gollum; Gandalf, Frodo Reprise Roles

Anya Taylor-Joy is officially joining Middle-earth, starring in Warner Bros.’ highly anticipated film, The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. Taylor-Joy will play a new character named Seren, a reveal confirmed directly by Warner Bros. This is huge news for fans as the creative team continues to grow for the 2027 release.
Andy Serkis, the iconic voice and performance capture actor behind Gollum, returns not only to star but also to direct. This is a massive win for the project, signaling a return to the series' roots after some prior missteps. Legendary director Peter Jackson, along with Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, will produce, ensuring a strong creative vision. Walsh and Boyens also penned the screenplay.
The film, slated for December 17, 2027, is shaping up to be a true reunion. Ian McKellen is set to reprise his legendary role as Gandalf, with Elijah Wood also returning as Frodo. Lee Pace, a standout from The Hobbit films, will be back as Thranduil. Reports also suggest Kate Winslet as Marigol, Jamie Dornan as Strider (likely Aragorn), and Leo Woodall as Halvard.
