Caped Crusader S2 Unleashes Carrie Kelly, Teases Unsettling Joker

Prime Video has unleashed a stark new poster for Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2, kicking the hype machine into overdrive for its July 31st return. But the real jaw-droppers are the confirmed character debuts: fans can finally expect Carrie Kelly, Frank Miller's iconic first female Robin from The Dark Knight Returns, to join the fray. Adding to the cult appeal, Bruce Timm and Paul Dini's high-flying villainess Roxy Rocket also makes an appearance.
Long-awaited details about the Joker's debut are finally emerging. Co-showrunner James Tucker offered a tantalizing tease, promising a take on the Clown Prince of Crime that will be "very different" for audiences primarily familiar with Mark Hamill or Jack Nicholson, yet instantly recognizable for "long, long, long, long time" comic readers. This signals a return to a more unsettling, perhaps Golden or Bronze Age inspired Joker, moving beyond previous animated iterations.
This critically acclaimed series, executive produced by animation icon Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams, and Matt Reeves, has already hinted at appearances from classic rogues like Riddler, Scarecrow, and Mad Hatter. It's clear the show is leaning into a darker, noir interpretation of Gotham. With a full trailer expected to drop this Wednesday, fans will soon get a much-anticipated deeper look into Batman's next harrowing chapter. Mark your calendars.
“This take on the Joker will be very different for people who only know of… If Joker begins with Mark Hamill and Jack Nicholson.”
Catzye Take
This second season has been a long time coming, and these character reveals are huge. Carrie Kelly's inclusion is a nod to a darker, more mature Batman universe, something fans of the original animated series crave. Keep an eye out for how this Joker truly redefines the character.
