David S. Goyer Boards Live-Action Fatal Fury Film, Art of Fighting Anime Also Announced

David S. Goyer, writer of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, is penning a live-action Fatal Fury film. This massive news dropped alongside the announcement that both SNK's iconic fighting game franchises, Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting, are getting adaptations. A new production banner, The Arena, helmed by former studio executive Erik Feig, is behind the push. The company's mission? To exclusively adapt popular IPs.
The Fatal Fury film will dive into the classic rivalry of brothers Terry and Andy Bogard against South Town crime boss Geese Howard. Fans know this storyline well. But that's not all for Fatal Fury; an animated project, Fatal Fury: The Vow, is also underway with Skybound Entertainment, the studio behind Prime Video's Invincible. This means we're getting two takes on Terry Bogard's saga!
For Art of Fighting devotees, an animated project is also in development. Details are sparse, but it's a promising start. Both franchises share the same gritty South Town universe, opening the door for exciting crossovers or even a shared TV series. This could be a connected universe dream come true for SNK fans.

Catzye Take
This news is huge for fighting game fans! Goyer's involvement signals a serious intent for Fatal Fury, and with two projects for that series plus Art of Fighting's animation, SNK is making a major play. What's interesting here is the potential for a shared universe, something fans have been dreaming of for years with the South Town setting. This could really shake up the video game adaptation landscape.
