Star Wars: The Experience Unveils Massive 50th Anniversary Exhibition

Star Wars is going big for its 50th anniversary. The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia just announced "Star Wars: The Experience," a massive 18,000 square foot exhibition opening in early 2027. This isn't just a static display. Fans will dive into 50 years of galaxy-spanning lore, from early concepts to modern hits. Imagine seeing Darth Vader's iconic costume or Darth Maul's lightsaber up close. Even Grogu, R2-D2, and C-3PO will be there, alongside original props from Andor.
Lucasfilm is partnering for this interactive journey. Over 70 screen-used artifacts, many on public view for the first time, promise an unparalleled deep dive. An RFID-powered experience personalizes your trip through interconnected galleries. It celebrates the intersection of art, innovation, and the global fandom that built Star Wars.
The exhibit won't open until February 13, 2027. But fans can get a sneak peek much sooner. A dedicated panel will hit San Diego Comic-Con this July 24, from 4-5 pm in Room 7AB. This is a significant moment for one of pop culture's most enduring sagas.

Catzye Take
This is a huge undertaking, even for a franchise as massive as Star Wars. What's interesting is the focus on both history and the interactive fan experience, a trend we're seeing more often in immersive pop culture events. Fans will want to watch the SDCC panel for early details.
