The Acolyte Creator Leslye Headland Eyes Season 2 Amidst Disney+ Resurgence

Leslye Headland isn't done with *The Acolyte*. The creator of the Star Wars series, set in the High Republic era, has expressed renewed hope for a second season, fueled by the show's recent re-charting on Disney+ alongside *Maul: Shadow Lord*.
"I would still want to do it! Absolutely," Headland told Empire, acknowledging fan rediscovery. "As more people discover it, I think people may want to see some form of the story come back." *The Acolyte*, known for its darker tone and Jedi-hunting mystery, received mixed reactions from fans upon its 2024 debut. However, Headland remains confident in its long-term appeal, drawing comparisons to the prequel films, which also faced initial skepticism but gained appreciation over time.
Should Disney+ greenlight more episodes, Headland is ready to dive deeper into the lore. She teased exploring Manny Jacinto's enigmatic character Qimir/The Stranger, his connections to Jedi Master Vernestra, and significantly, his ties to the infamous Sith Lord Darth Plagueis. Headland also hints at weaving in elements that connect directly to the sequel trilogy, promising a richer tapestry for Star Wars canon. The first season followed twin sisters Osha (Amandla Stenberg) and Mae, on opposing paths of the Force, culminating in the revelation of Qimir as Plagueis' apprentice.

Catzye Take
This is great news for fans who felt *The Acolyte*'s first season ended too abruptly. Connecting directly to Darth Plagueis and the sequel trilogy could significantly expand our understanding of the Star Wars universe. We'll be watching closely to see if Disney+ bites and gives Headland the chance to complete her vision.
