The Ones Who Live Showrunner Reveals Strike-Impacted Episode Count

Scott M. Gimple, The Walking Dead universe's Chief Content Officer, just revealed why The Ones Who Live felt rushed. The limited six-episode run wasn't his vision. Gimple confirms he originally aimed for a 10-episode season, with the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes playing a major role in cutting things short.
"I could have done three to four more episodes," Gimple admitted, reflecting on production challenges, especially near the finale. He noted a missed opportunity for a dedicated episode on Terry O'Quinn's Major General Johnathan Beale. Fans felt Rick and Michonne's reunion needed more breathing room; now we know why.
But don't write off the Civic Republic Military just yet. Despite the show's conclusion, Gimple teases the CRM might not be "totally gone." This suggests the TWD universe isn't finished with its biggest villains. The apocalyptic threat could still loom large.
