Hiromu Arakawa's Fullmetal Alchemist ran from 2001 to 2010. Edward and Alphonse Elric attempt to bring their mother back through alchemy, and pay for it — Edward with limbs, Alphonse with his entire body. Their search for restoration draws them into the military of a state whose history is worse than it appears.
It is frequently cited as the best-structured long shonen series, and the reason is planning. Arakawa knew the ending, and the series shows it: it runs to a controlled length, subplots converge rather than accumulate, and it concludes deliberately rather than being cancelled or extended.
This is genuinely rare. Most long serialised manga bears visible marks of being written toward an uncertain horizon.
The magic operates on a stated principle of equivalent exchange, and the rule is enforced. Power always costs something, the cost is legible, and the plot's major turns come from applying or violating the principle rather than from characters becoming stronger.
It is a textbook case of a constrained power system producing better drama than an open one.
The military setting is not decoration. The series deals directly with genocide, the culpability of soldiers who follow orders, and what reconciliation could mean afterwards. It handles this without abandoning the humour and warmth that make it readable, which is a difficult balance and the main reason it travels so widely.
The arithmetic is unremarkable and worth doing anyway: 66 across 2 words, reducing to 3. The weight sits in “Alchemist”, which carries 36 on its own and reduces to 9.
Three is creative communicator — communication, creativity, and the public stage. The reference files it as an act of telling. Read that way, what the entry is really recording is the 3's instinct to turn everything into a story worth telling.
Heart's Desire 6, Personality 6: the subject wants exactly what it appears to want, which is responsibility — an unusually undivided reading.
Counted another way the answer holds. 総画 strokes is 62, an 8, volumes is 27, a 9, years serialised is 10, a 1 and debut year is 2001, a 3, and debut year reduces to the same 3. Two systems, one figure.
The 3 talks past the point. Where an entry here runs long, it is usually because the technique was more fun to describe than it was important. What the 3 still asks is that you watch the technique rather than the plot it is carrying. The other entries that reduce to 3 are collected on The Telling.
