Jimmy Tatro Eyed for Gorilla Grodd in DCU True Crime Series

The new DC Universe is already getting weird in the best way. Jimmy Tatro, known for American Vandal, is reportedly in talks to join the upcoming live-action DCU series as none other than Gorilla Grodd. This is a wild concept already: a fictional true-crime docuseries set within the DCU, hosted by Superman's pal Jimmy Olsen.
American Vandal creators Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault are spearheading the project. Their mockumentary background perfectly suits the reported premise, which will focus its first season on the hyper-intelligent telepathic ape, Grodd—one of The Flash's most iconic villains. DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran recently confirmed filming starts later this year. This series represents a bold, unexpected direction for the DCU, stepping far beyond typical superhero fare.

Catzye Take
This is exactly the kind of unexpected, genre-bending content we love to see from the new DCU. Fans of American Vandal know Tatro's comedic timing and range, which could bring a surprising depth to Grodd. What's interesting here is how much creative freedom DC Studios seems to be giving its creators outside the big screen epics.
