赤坂 アカ
Born 1988
The creator of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War and writer of Oshi no Ko, known for comedy built like a strategy game. The name reduces to 4 — the structure.
4Filed under 4. The Structure takes a structure, and this entry is frames one.
Aka Akasaka was born in 1988 in Niigata Prefecture. He worked as an assistant to Kei Sanbe, the creator of Erased, and published his first series, Ib: Instant Bullet, before Kaguya-sama: Love Is War began in 2015.
Kaguya-sama ran until 2022 and became a major hit, helped by its anime adaptation. While it was still running, Akasaka began writing Oshi no Ko with the artist Mengo Yokoyari, a drama about the entertainment industry that ran in Weekly Young Jump from 2020 to 2024.
Akasaka builds comedy from structure: situations framed as games, narration that treats small social moments as battles, and running tallies of wins and losses. His later work uses the same precision for darker material, with Oshi no Ko dealing with exploitation, online abuse and grief in the idol and television business.
He is regarded as one of the most commercially successful writers of his generation, notable for having two very different hits running at the same time.
The arithmetic is unremarkable and worth doing anyway: 13 across 2 words, reducing to 4. The weight sits in “Akasaka”, which carries 9 on its own and reduces to 9.
Four is builder & organizer — structure, labour, and the building of lasting systems. The reference files it as a structure. Read that way, what the entry is really recording is the 4's insistence that what lasts must be built patiently.
Heart's Desire 6, Personality 7: responsibility underneath, inquiry on the surface. The gap between them is where the subject is most interesting.
人格 core is 9, 総格 total is 18, a 9 and born is 1988, an 8 — none of which lands on the 4 the title gives. That disagreement is worth more than an agreement would be: it marks the distance between how a name travels and how it was written.
The 4 confuses the frame for the work. Structures outlive their usefulness, and several entries here describe conventions kept long past their reason. What the 4 still asks is that you look for the constraint the subject was working inside. The other entries that reduce to 4 are collected on The Structure.
