Fujita
22The Edifice · 22ふじた
The creator of Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku, which began as a webcomic on pixiv.
22Twenty-two — construction. That is the reduction of this name, and the shelf it is read from.
Career
Fujita began posting Wotakoi as a webcomic on the illustration site pixiv in 2014. Its popularity led to serialisation on Ichijinsha's web magazine Comic Pool.
The work
Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku (2014–2021) became a hit, adapted as an anime in 2018 and a live-action film in 2020.
The style
Fujita's comedy is quick and affectionate, full of in-jokes for fans of games, anime and boys' love, and built around warm relationships between adults.
Why Fujita matters
Wotakoi is a notable example of a pixiv webcomic becoming a major manga franchise, and of a romance that takes adult fans seriously.
The name by its numbers
Every letter here carries a digit; together they make 22 on the nose, with no reduction to do.
Twenty-two is master builder (22) — grand vision made concrete and built to last. The reference files it as an edifice. Read that way, what the entry is really recording is the 22's drive to turn a huge vision into something concrete.
The vowels alone reduce to 4, the consonants to 9. The presentation folds back into the want: reckoning in service of foundation.
The 22 crushes the people who build it. The production histories on this shelf are not happy ones. What the 22 still asks is that you count the years, then count the people. The other entries that reduce to 22 are collected on The Edifice.
